Congratulations Sequim Bee Farm on winning your third national award! Their latest extraction of honey, Snowberry Rose, was chosen as a 2018 Good Food Award Winner! According to the press release, “the Good Food Awards recognizes American food and drink crafters who demonstrate a commitment to creating tasty, authentic and responsible products and in doing so, better the nation’s food system. The 2018 winners are not only commended for their creativity but also for their sustainable production methods that showcase the highest social and environmental standards. These producers protect the land, continue to push the bounds of their craft, and respect their peers, all the while redefining the breadth of the American table.” You can read the full press release here. Sequim Bee Farm is planning on returning to the Port Angeles Farmers Market on Saturday March 10th!
On February 3rd and 10th our market will be a drop off location for the Elwha Klallam Heritage Center’s Toy Drive! We will be accepting donations of new or gently used stuffed toys for children in the community who need them. More information available here.
Fresh Bucks have finally come to the Market! Starting July 30th, 2016 we began distributing Fresh Bucks. Anyone using an EBT card to purchase $5 or more in tokens at the Market receives Fresh Bucks for every $5. The Fresh Bucks program is being made possible by a grant from the USDA thereby increasing the buying power for people using the SNAP/EBT program. As a result, more and more lower income people can afford to eat a healthier diet.
